A cornucopia of NYC related links, bitches, links
I always find New York magazine's holiday guide pretty useful. A lot of the stuff and places they feature are outside my budget and tastes, but they're still good for finding little non-chain stores and gift ideas nonetheless. I especially like their rundown on Crosby St.
New York is just a wonderful city for photography, because the architecture is so distinctive, and while the city is always changing, there's always something that stays the same:
And I love movies set in NYC for the same reason. The city is invariably the other star:- I recently watched Taxi Driver again - Travis Bickle's New York is like a whole different city, especially East Village, but you still get the same vibe, the juxtaposition of the underworld and high society, etc etc.

- I love The Warriors mostly for its camp value, but like Taxi Driver, the crime-ridden, darker New York is the other star, with the action happening underground instead of on the streets and in Times Square theaters.
